Moving home internet involves more than packing the router. Your service may be linked to a registered address, require installation or have device obligations. New-address coverage can differ even within the same city. Start with the conditions of your own contract rather than another customer's experience.
Check the destination first
Confirm eligibility at the exact new address before ending the existing connection. Fiber checks may need building-plate details; a wireless home offer may require address approval beyond ordinary mobile coverage. Distinguish an enquiry from an accepted relocation request and a confirmed installation appointment.
Verify location restrictions
A SIM-based home connection is not automatically portable. Ask whether the registered location must be updated and whether the new address qualifies. Even if the router appears to connect after being moved, this does not establish that the use complies with the package conditions.
Review commitment and equipment
Request a clear account of outstanding bills, remaining commitment and device-related obligations. Ask which equipment moves with you and which belongs to the property or provider installation. Do not dismantle external receivers or fiber infrastructure without the appropriate instructions and technician support.
Coordinate installation
Arrange authorized access to the apartment and any shared service areas. Confirm cable routes, equipment position and work that requires landlord permission. Plan the desk and important rooms before choosing the router location. Good incoming service can still be poorly distributed indoors.
Prepare for the transition
If work or study depends on connectivity, test a suitable temporary alternative and check its data allowance and conditions. Complete optional large transfers beforehand. Follow employer security requirements and avoid unknown networks for sensitive work. A fallback is useful preparation, not a guarantee of uninterrupted service.
Follow the request and billing
Keep the relocation number, expected dates and official notifications. After completion, check that the recorded service status and billing reflect the agreed action. Activating a new connection does not necessarily cancel an old account. The guide cannot automatically terminate your existing contract, and a WhatsApp enquiry is not itself an operator relocation order.
Test after the move
Check performance near the router and in the rooms you use, including upload and calls at normal times. A room-specific problem points toward indoor distribution. Share the new address, service type and approximate move date with the guide for help comparing options. Avoid sending full contracts with unnecessary personal data. The provider confirms relocation, fees and applicable terms.
